Coffee Farmer Training to Japan

In order to improve skills of the members, KSU POM HUMBANG sending a farmer to ARI -JAPAN ( The Asian Rural Institute Japan http://www.ari-edu.org/en/home-eng/.) for 9 months Leadership and Organic Farming training in Tochigi Ken-Japan.

Lampita Silaban ( in charge of marketing and farm organizer)  has been working for her lovely  community in Nagasaribu Village, Lintongnihuta, Humbanghasundutan, North Sumatra for more than 7 years. Together with 31 participants from all over the world across ASIA, AFRICA, PACIFIC, CENTRAL AMERICA, She will work,living together and  learn many skills and opportunity. On December 2014, she will be back to our community and love to share all the good learning she got to her peoples in our community.

Sending the members was our aims in improving human local resources of farmers/members. We have a lot of chance by collaboration with partners ( NGOs, School institution, Business partner, Churches ,Local Government). Czech University of Life Science Students Visit Our Coffee Plantation


Twelve students from Czech University of Life Science (CULS) Prague visited KSU POM HUMBANG for studying  about processing of Sumatra Lintong Coffee Luwak in traditional way.

This is the 3th visited to cooperative since 2012. This program conducted by Institute Technology DEL ( IT DEL) and CULS  as Summer School program for CULS Students which was held form  July 8th until Augus 3th 2014.
KSU POM HUMBANG has been involved in this program because our collaboration with IT DEL as a partner for field study of foreigner students .Beside that, IT DEL has also helped cooperative in improving of website our cooperative. 
                                               
Ms.Libuska Valesova, lecturer of CULS who always join and guide her students says, Study field for Coffee farmers in Humbanghasundutan  was one of the most interesting study for students. She said, every year we have new students and we will always visit Humbanghasundutan, visit KSU POM Cooperative,talking with coffee farmers and love to enjoy couples cup of the most exclusive coffee in the world " Sumatra Lintong Coffee Luwak" served by cooperative members. We always exited and never disappointed for all hospitality and clearly explanation from the cooperative, Libuska said.


Gani Silaban ( chairperson ) of KSU POM HUMBANG who really prepare the program and well  organized, says, almost 4 hours guided all the students was joyful. We used to share a new way how to improve farmers life throughout cooperative, We wanted to share to all visitor all our life, our challenges in order to make better life. I love to share all about coffee and make people happy, He said. 


Gani Silaban also explained how to process Kopi Luwak in traditional way, but excellent quality, then CULS Visit cooperative warehouse and see processing of coffee by using machinery, and take them to local market in Doloksanggul to observe how the farmers their coffee to collector.
We offer hospitality and love to share our activities, and love to offer you also our product, Gani said.One of the most interesting one during study field, Student can do processing of coffee by themselves. and cooperative have income by offering coffee, this is truly " direct market with deal price" both have a good advantage. Hosting of people, sharing skills ,offer product, good combination to expand our marketing, Gani said.

As informed on our packaging that KSU POM HUMBANG is the coffee producer of Tobali Coffee Organic and Kopi Luwak that penetrate the market in Bali.

As Sumatra Arabica is well known as the best coffee in the world as stated by the founder of Starbucks so this is come to our attention to buzz the trading of our coffee, especially organic one.

The Tobali Coffee is special brand for Bali market which targets the expatriate buyers and coffee stores in Bali. We are optimist that our brand will be popular especially in Bali and abroad. Tobali it self means the coffee that come from Toba the paradise of coffee plantation to Bali, the paradise of tourism destination.
