The coffee from Sumatera is one of the best coffee in the world. Long time before Kopi Luwak became popular, the Sumatran coffee especially from Sidikalang has been well known by international market. For last few years the production was very low since the price on the market was also very low and not affordable to the farmers. Some farmers converted their coffee plantation to cacao. This commodity brings more hope to the farmers and they can increase their monthly income. For about last three years the new variety of coffee come and called Kopi Sigararutang or Kopi Ateng...which produces coffee after 2 years. This comes from Arabica species and this commodity has been penetrating the market. Now, the commodity has risen following the market growing better. Especially, Kopi Luwak is more popular and accepted by international market. And luckily there are big amount of Luwak (Civet) in the jungle of this area.
So, the regular coffee is very popular, more ever the coffee luwak. The luwak eats coffee from the best coffee and in this next process will produce the best kopi luwak. It makes sense!
